What’s Happening?

YouTube star Cleetus McFarland is adding another line to his NASCAR resume this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, though this time it won’t require any special permission from officials.

Cleetus McFarland, the online persona of YouTuber Garrett Mitchell, exploded onto the NASCAR scene last season.

Though Mitchell had little history in oval racing, the automotive content creator has quickly worked his way up the ladder, getting starts with teams in the sport’s top three divisions.

This weekend, Mitchell, who is quite the personality off track as well, is taking on another duty, serving as a driver and Grand Marshal for Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

Of course, the duty of giving the command to fire engines will be awkward for the 31-year-old, given that he will also have to fire his own engine for Niece Motorsports’ No. 4 truck.

Still, fans online have agreed that it is a fitting choice for one of the sport’s most interesting faces.

Mitchell’s Packed Weekend

While he has no real prep work to give the command, Mitchell has quite the weekend ahead of him.

First and foremost, the Floridian is set to make his second-ever NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start, which comes with a round of Practice and qualifying Saturday morning.

But before that, Mitchell will get his chance to learn Michigan in the ARCA Menards Series, as he makes his fourth start of the season for Rette Jones Racing, coming off a second-place finish at Talladega.
