What’s Happening?

This weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, Garrett Mitchell, better known by his screen name Cleetus McFarland, will tackle the ARCA Menards Series for the final time this season.

  • While he has a history with racing, this is the first season that the YouTube star, who has over 4 million subscribers, has attempted stock car racing. Through his relationship with NASCAR legend Greg Biffle, Mitchell has made three starts this season with Rette Jones Racing.
  • Mitchell made his debut in ARCA at Daytona International Speedway, where he crashed out early, finishing 30th. After this start and prior to a subsequent start at Talladega, Mitchell revealed his intentions to race at Bristol on Corey LaJoie’s podcast Stacking Pennies in April.
  • In his three other starts this season, Mitchell has a best finish of ninth at Charlotte in May, and scored his first top ten at Talladega in April. While he has no long-term plans to race, the 30-year-old has often joked about racing in either the 2027 or 2028 Daytona 500, though he would like to work his way to Cup naturally, rather than quickly jump to NASCAR’s top division.
  • Mitchell’s final race of the season comes in a very important race for the ARCA Menards Series. The ARCA Menards Series East will crown its champion this weekend, in which Isaac Kitzmiller leads Tyler Reif by 19 points, while Brendan Queen will attempt to hold onto his 42-point lead over Lavar Scott with just four races left in the season.
  • The Bush’s Beans 200 will air on FS1 at 5:30 PM EST on Thursday.
