- McFarland, whose real name is Garrett Mitchell, will drive this car at Rockingham Speedway early next month. The paint scheme, which carries sponsorship from Tommy’s Express Car Wash, features nothing short of what fans have come to expect from Mitchell, covered in Bald Eagles and American iconography.
- This paint scheme will also serve as Mitchell’s first official NASCAR diecast. Lionel Racing launched pre-orders for Mitchell’s debut scheme a few weeks ago, with the car available in 1:64 scale, 1:24 scale, and 1:24 scale Color Chrome.
- The 30-year-old signed his developmental contract with Richard Childress Racing last month. The deal, three races a year for two seasons, will see Mitchell use his start at The Rock to allow him clearance to race at Talladega.
- While Mitchell has experience in the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, his time behind the wheel is very limited. This has drawn criticism from his peers, who are mostly frustrated with NASCAR’s somewhat contradictory approval system.
