- McFarland, whose real name is Garrett Mitchell, made his debut at Daytona earlier this season. While that race did not go according to plan, the 31-year-old continued to hint that he had more races on his Truck Series calendar for this season.
- Just a few weeks ago, Mitchell announced his intentions to return to the series at Talladega this fall. But to bridge the gap between starts, Mitchell will head to another 2.5-mile track in Michigan International Speedway for his second career start.
- The race, scheduled for June 6, will feature Mitchell back behind the wheel of the Niece Motorsports No. 4 truck. Mitchell will also double up that weekend with a start in the ARCA Menards Series prior to the Truck Series race.
- In his limited NASCAR and ARCA starts, Mitchell has yet to tackle a track like Michigan. Still, the high-speed, high-banked oval will likely suit his driving style.
