What’s Happening?

YouTube stars turned ARCA drivers Cleetus McFarland and Squirrel McNutt reacted to a quick shoutout from NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin during the latest episode of their podcast Bald Eagles.

What YouTube personalities Cleetus McFarland and Squirrel McNutt have brought to NASCAR is nothing short of unique.

With a massive fanbase and nearly unlimited support, the duo, whose real names are Garrett Mitchell and George Siciliano, has taken one of the sport’s lowest divisions, the ARCA Menards Series, by storm.

NASCAR fans adjusted to seeing the name McFarland rather quickly last season, and Siciliano’s persona of Squirrel McNutt has been an equal adjustment on the ARCA scoring pylon in 2026.

While their off-track antics have caught the attention of many, their performances on track have not disappointed either, with Mitchell showing signs of real on-track skill in his early starts, and Siciliano scoring a top 15 in his series debut at Kansas just a few weeks ago.

During last week’s post-Talladega episode of his podcast Action’s Detremental, future NASCAR Hall of Famer Denny Hamlin gave Siciliano a quick shoutout when talking about that previous weekend’s race winners, jokingly saying, “Was it Squirrel McNutt that won?”

While some may have overlooked this short throwaway line, during the latest episode of their podcast Bald Eagles, Mitchell and Siciliano reacted to Hamlin’s short blurb.

While Siciliano seems not to have known what Hamlin said, saying “that was cool, I don’t really know what he said,” Mitchell said he didn’t know whether or not Hamlin was a fan, or just joking about the McNutt persona.

“Couldn’t tell if he’s a Squirrel McNutt fan, I think he is a Squirrel McNutt fan,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell then lobbed an open invite to Hamlin to hang out “whether you like us or not.” With Siciliano joking that they don’t care how Hamlin feels about them, saying, “You can just roast us, we don’t even care, everyone else is doing it.”

Squirrel McNutt in ARCA

All jokes aside, Siciliano’s quick take to ARCA is one of the better stories of the 2026 season.

The 33-year-old announced his intentions to race earlier this season, though, unlike Mitchell in 2025, he would not get to test at Daytona; instead, he made his debut at Hickory Motor Speedway in the ARCA Menards Series East.

This was part of a plan where the race at Hickory would allow Siciliano to race in the main ARCA Series race at Kansas, then at Talladega.

Ultimately, he did not receive approval for Kansas immediately after his 13th-place finish at Hickory. As a result, ARCA officials had him race in the ARCA East at Rockingham.

His race at the Rock showed real potential, finishing ninth for his first top ten in ARCA East and earning approval for Kansas. At Kansas, his momentum continued, finishing 12th.

While Talladega did not go as planned, crashing out after 69 laps, Siciliano’s abilities have surprised fans and some industry members.
