What’s Happening?
NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar posted several images from the abandoned Chicagoland Speedway Wednesday night, once again raising questions about the track’s potential future in NASCAR.
Carson Hocevar has often fanned the flames of a potential future for Chicagoland Speedway to rejoin the NASCAR circuit.
The 22-year-old Spire Motorsports talent teased fans about the track early this month, posting a video of the mostly abandoned facility on his Instagram Story. He later went as far as to say Chicagoland will be on the 2026 schedule during a Jun. 13 iRacing livestream, saying, “I’m gonna be so pumped for Chicagoland next year.”

Wednesday night, Hocevar once again teased fans about Chicagoland. At 7:39 PM EST, the NASCAR Cup Series driver began posting photos on X from both inside and outside the facility. His posts showed a track that, despite some overgrowth, looked to be in decent condition.

Though it did not seem as if he was invited to the property, Hocevar’s video and photo are taking the NASCAR fandom by storm.
As of press time, NASCAR has yet to confirm that the track is on or even under consideration for addition to the schedule, though several scenarios could work in favor of its addition.
