What’s Happening?

After a couple of weeks off, the boys of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returned to take on the Lone Star State! That’s right, in this triple-header weekend, the Trucks took to Texas Motor Speedway for a Friday night showdown under the lights. And there were some heavy hitters in this race such as Kyle Busch and Zane Smith and it was the veterans of this series that showed speed throughout the race.

Though the likes of Nick Sanchez and Christain Eckes led the race early, it didn’t take long for Kyle Busch in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy to overtake them for the lead. Once he got the lead, he scooted off with it, never really looking back. Other fast drivers throughout the race included Corey Heim and Zane Smith.

Kyle Busch briefly lost the lead during a cycle of green flag pit stops in the final stage. During the cycle, Zane Smith stayed out, hoping to catch a caution. That perfectly timed caution did fly and he was able to stay in contention by pitting under yellow. But it was Kyle Busch who resumed the lead, nothing but the checkered flag in his sights.

After a series of late restarts, Kyle Busch was able to hold off a hard-charging Christian Eckes, Nick Sanchez, and Corey Heim to win at Texas Motor Speedway. From all of us here at the Daily Downforce, congratulations on this hard-fought victory to Kyle Busch and Spire Motorsports.

The Main Character

It has been a rough start to the 2024 season for Kyle Busch. Save for a win in the Trucks Series at Atlanta, Busch has struggled to put on a show, struggling in most of his starts in the Cup Series for RCR’s No. 8 team. Though this win was not easy, it was a statement win of sorts for the GOAT of the Truck Series.

After leading over 110 laps en route to victory, Kyle Busch tied Todd Bodine’s record of 6 wins at Texas in the series. In addition, this is also his 20th overall win at Texas in the three top-tier NASCAR series.

Conclusion

What do you all make of this race, Daily Downforce readers? I for one thought it was a lot of fun. Yes, Kyle Busch won and I think many of us could have predicted that. But he did not go uncontested. Some of the young guns of the series seriously took it to the GOAT of the Truck Series and the win was not easy by any means. Let us know your thoughts on this race. How would you grade it amongst all the other truck series races this year? Let us know! And, as always, tune back in tomorrow here at DailyDownforce.com for our coverage of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race in Texas. Race weekend in the Lonestar State has only just begun!
