What’s Happening?
How many of our Daily Downforce readers are baseball fans in addition to being motorsports enthusiasts? On August 2, 2025, we’re getting something of a crossover event as the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds square off in the first-ever Speedway Classic. The game is to be played in the Last Great Coliseum, Bristol Motor Speedway. It was announced today that for this special occasion, the Braves and Reds will be sporting special jerseys for the monumental event. The jerseys featured bolded NASCAR-style letters, a pleasing detail for fans of both professional sports leagues.
- The pictures posted on X were from notable Atlanta Braves fan, UnkZuna from the Braves. It is assumed that the front of the jerseys will look like a regular Braves jersey. It is also assumed that the Cincinnati Reds will give their jerseys similar treatment, the two teams working in tandem.
- Officially, this game will be a Reds home game to end off a series of road games for the Atlanta Braves.
- This is the first MLB game to ever take place in the state of Tennessee. However, it is not the first high-profile sporting event to take place within the Last Great Coliseum. During the 2016 NCAA Football season, the University of Tennessee Volunteers squared off against the Virginia Tech Hokies. 156,990 fans were in attendance for that game. The Volunteers of Tennessee ultimately won, 45-24.
Looks like the Speedway Classic jerseys will have a unique look
