In December, a plane crash took the lives of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, his daughter Emma, as well as Dennis Dutton, his son Jack Dutton, and Craig Wadsworth.
Not even a month after this tragic crash, police reports from January 8 claimed that an individual had broken into the Biffle family home, after which $30,000 in cash and a backpack were reported missing.
At the time, there were no arrests made in the matter, though Iredell County Sheriffs have now identified a person of interest and executed search warrants related to the break-in.
Per David Hodges of WBTV, the name of the person of interest is not public, and none of the reported stolen items have been found, though sheriffs seized electronic devices at one of the sites where they executed a search warrant.
Still, the investigation into the break-in is ongoing, and continues to be a hot topic of conversation amongst the NASCAR community.
Since the plane crash and break-in, many fans, teams, and drivers have paid their respects to Biffle and the others who passed away both on and off the track.
The National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation of the crash at Statesville Regional Airport is ongoing, with updates rolling in since the investigation launched on December 19.
