What’s Happening?
Austin Hill will once again drive the No. 33 for Richard Childress Racing in this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.

- In the aftermath of the passing of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, Richard Childress Racing is left in a tough position, filling out a lineup for Busch’s former ride. This weekend, the team is opting to go with NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series veteran Austin Hill to drive the car once again.
- Upon Busch’s hospitalization for an abrupt illness last week, Hill was set to drive the No. 8, but, after Busch’s passing, the team switched the No. 8 to the No. 33. After starting 13th, Hill brought home his Chevrolet in 27th, just one lap down.
- This race will mark Hill’s fourth Cup Series start of the 2026 season, and his first-ever Cup Series start at Nashville. The Georgia native already has five career top ten finishes in five career NASCAR OAP Series starts at the track.
- Going forward into the summer stretch of the season, RCR has yet to announce a long-term plan for the No. 33 team. Many have theorized OAP Series teammates Hill and Jesse Love could share duties for the rest of the year.
