What’s Happening
According to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NASCAR VP of Competition Elton Sawyer said that Austin Cindric will not be penalized for his incident with Austin Dillon this past weekend at Gateway. Sawyer called the incident merely “Hard racing”.
- Cindric was under scrutiny after Dillon claimed that Cindric should be suspended. Dillon also called the wreck “Intentional,” and team owner Richard Childress said that the incident was “Payback.”
- NASCAR has twice suspended drivers in the past year for intentional wrecks. Bubba Wallace was suspended for wrecking Kyle Larson intentionally at Las Vegas, and Chase Elliott was suspended for Gateway this past weekend for intentionally wrecking Denny Hamlin at the Coca-Cola 600.
- Fans on Social Media are somewhat split on this one. Some say this is the right call, while others claim it is the wrong call.
