After a controversial finish to the Brickyard 400, NASCAR defends its decision-making. Today on Out Of The Groove with Eric Estepp, he will go through what NASCAR got right and what NASCAR got wrong with the Brickyard 400.
- On Sunday’s race, two cars were penalized for Entering the track too soon. This became a major talking point because of the wording in the memo to the drivers, but NASCAR felt like its communication and understanding were sufficient. Who do you think was in the wrong?
- Another controversial decision that NASCAR made was when Brad Keselowski ran out of fuel moments before the restart zone. They decided not to throw another yellow to re-order the field if they did, Ryan Blaney still would’ve been on the high side. Do you think this was a good decision by NASCAR to save time?
- The last controversial decision they made was a race-deciding decision. Ryan Preece spun and then ran out of fuel, but NASCAR decided to wait until the white flag threw the yellow and ended the race. Would you rather NASCAR have quick yellow flags or do all they can to ensure the race stays green?
Did you like NASCAR’s response to the controversy? What changes would you like to make to ensure that races don’t end the same way? Let Eric know all of your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
