What’s Happening?
Alex Bowman is officially entered as the driver of the No. 48 for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, following the veteran driver’s absence from last week’s race due to a Vertigo diagnosis. Despite his spot on the preliminary entry list, questions remain about his clearance to race this weekend.

- While some might view this as a good sign, it is unclear whether or not Bowman can race or will be cleared to race this weekend as of press time. Hendrick Motorsports will likely follow up with more information on Bowman’s status as the week goes on, much like they did last week.
- The Arizona native was pulled from his No. 48 due to an unknown illness during the March 1 race at Circuit of the Americas. Though he was on the entry list for this past weekend’s race at Phoenix Raceway, HMS announced reserve driver Anthony Alfredo would replace Bowman last Thursday.
- Per HMS, Bowman was diagnosed with vertigo following the race at COTA, and, as of last week, was already working towards a return, driving a street car around the Ten Tenths Motor Club private road course in Concord, North Carolina. Unfortunately, Bowman’s timeline for recovery could vary as vertigo can vary person to person.
- If Bowman is not healthy and clear to race this Sunday, Alfredo will more than likely be behind the wheel of the No. 48. This past weekend, the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series veteran qualified the No. 48 31st, but was involved in a lap 218 accident, ending his day in 33rd.
