Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman will serve as the Grand Marshal for the NASCAR Cup Series race in Las Vegas on Mar. 16. Freeman joins a star-studded list of NASCAR Cup Series Grand Marshals thus far in the 2025 season.

- The announcement of the Grand Marshal is typically not shocking news. However, this reveal sent the online NASCAR Community into an excited frenzy. Freeman, known for his deep voice, is an excellent candidate to give the command to fire engines in Las Vegas.
- In a press release from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Freeman expressed his excitement for March’s Pennzoil 400. “It’s a true honor to be part of such an incredible tradition, and I can’t wait to see the energy, passion, and excitement that fills the track.”
- Freeman is a multifaceted performer who has served as an actor, producer, and director throughout his illustrious career. However, he is best known for his deep voice, which is used for voice-overs in many documentaries.
- The Grand Marshal is an honorary role typically given to a celebrity guest, retired industry member, or title sponsor. The Grand Marshal signals drivers to start their engines. So far, notable names on this year’s list of Grand Marshals include Freeman, fellow actors Anthony Mackie and Jack Quaid, and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons.
