What’s Happening?
The Pocono TV ratings are in, and they are mostly positive for NASCAR. According to Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch, NASCAR brought in 2.808 million viewers and a 1.6 rating. This was the highest viewed and rated sports program on cable for the weekend, and this was the highest rated Pocono race since 2017.
You Need to Know
- Of the four NBC races run on schedule this year, this is the third race to show an increase in ratings. This is a departure from the races on FOX, which saw 13 of its’ 18 Cup Series broadcasts see a decrease in viewership.
- According to Lewis, in the key demographic, NASCAR pulled in a 0.36 ratings for viewers between 18-49, which was the highest of any sporting event on cable for the weekend. Formula One was the next closest with a 0.33 rating in that demographic. However, NASCAR pulled in only a 0.23 rating for those aged 18-34, which lost out to Formula One with a 0.27 rating.
- Fans were excited to see the solid TV ratings for Pocono Raceway. Some were surprised to see how well Pocono seemed to perform in the TV ratings.
