Flatrock Motorsports Park, a new track under construction in Tennessee, could become a future home for NASCAR races.

What’s Happening?

DannyBTalks discovered something today. More specifically, he discovered a potential new NASCAR road course being built just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. Flatrock Motorsports Park is the name of the track, and fans on social media were highly interested in the concept.

  • According to Chris Medland from Racer.com, the track is set on 773 acres and aims to attract IndyCar and MotoGP. The track will feature three layouts including 2.67 mile grand prix circuit, a 3.5 mile club layout, and a roughly six mile endurance circuit when both circuits are combined.
  • NASCAR has been increasing its footprint in Tennessee recently with the addition of the Nashville Superspeedway and the push to bring the Cup Series back to the Nashville Fairgrounds. While putting a Cup date here may be a bit much for some, DannyB’s suggestion of an Xfinity race could be feasible.
  • Fans on social media expressed intrigue, but some were concerned about another track in the Middle/East Tennessee area. Regardless, there is intrigue.

In the Stands

Imagine F1 racing in the middle of nowhere.

It will be Grade 2 when it opens.

DannyB offers thoughts on some people wondering if there are too many tracks in Tennessee.

There will be two layouts of the track. The one NASCAR would likely race on will be 2.67 miles.

Yes it is.

Road courses are generally a bit more narrow, regardless yes this track does appear to be narrow.

Tennessee is looking to increase its’ racing output.

country boy does not want any more road courses.

On Your Screen

Darian Gilliam is intrigued.

NASCAR seems to be getting more and more aggressive in terms of their schedule particularly in recent year. This track seems like it will be NASCAR-ready when it opens, and that means it could theoretically be on the schedule in some capacity.
