- Newman, 48, has a history of racing open-wheel cars and is the 1999 USAC Silver Crown Series Champion. But next week, Newman will take on a new level, racing in the WoO Six Nations Showdown at Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario, Canada.
- The 2008 Daytona 500 Champion stepped away from full-time NASCAR competition at the conclusion of the 2021 season. Still, he has kept racing, mostly in asphalt modifieds, on a part-time basis.
- Newman returned to NASCAR for a short stint with Rick Ware Racing in 2023, where he made eight starts and finished no better than 26th. He also made a solo start in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series that season, finishing 38th at Homestead for MBM Motorsports.
- This weekend, Newman is set for another return to the sport at North Wilkesboro Speedway for Kaulig Racing and Ram Trucks in their No. 25 Craftsman Truck Series entry. This will mark the Indiana native’s first start in the Truck Series since 2018.
- Newman’s debut outing, WoO, will take place on July 21 and 22, and will be broadcast live on DIRTVision.
