Naval Base Coronado
NASCAR’s race at San Diego’s Naval Base Coronado was a hit from the start, with plenty of discussions that NASCAR could return in 2027, sparking prior to the green flag dropping for the Cup Series race.
One report from Bill Center of The San Diego Union-Tribune suggested Amy Lupo, President of NASCAR San Diego, thinks the sport could come back for a handful of dates, including the Fourth of July in 2027.
After the race, NASCAR COO Ben Kennedy publicly stated that the sport wants to come back, but that NASCAR is “cognizant of the fact that this is an active military base, and we want to be mindful of that as well.”

Chicago Street Circuit
NASCAR’s National Series made its debut on the streets of Chicago’s Grant Park in 2023 as part of a joint weekend between the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts and Cup Series.

The Clash at Daytona
One of the first major rumored returns to the 2027 schedule was talk that the preseason The Clash could make a return to Daytona International Speedway.
The event, which has gone by the names Busch Clash, Budweiser Shootout, Sprint Unlimited, and most recently Cookout Clash, was held at the track from 1979 to 2021. From there, NASCAR moved the race to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and then to Bowman Gray Stadium in 2025.
Though the event is still special, many fans feel that it has lost its importance since leaving the 2.5-mile superspeedway.
Luckily for those fans, in April, pit crew member, mechanic, and media member Bozi Tatarevic claimed in a YouTube video that discussions to take the race back to Daytona were picking up.
While NASCAR has yet to announce plans to move the Clash back to Daytona, the sport is hosting preseason thunder at the track early next year, something fans hope ties into a broader re-revamp of Speedweeks, including the Clash.

Mexico City
NASCAR made its return to Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez last season. This weekend marked the first O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at the track since 2008, and the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series race.
Unfortunately, the track lost its date on the 2026 schedule to San Diego’s Naval Base Coronado, something that Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic reported last July, which was due to conflicts with the now ongoing FIFA Men’s World Cup soccer tournament.
In that same report, and in subsequent reports and comments from NASCAR officials, a return to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in 2027 is not entirely off the table. However, these talks and rumors have slowed as the 2026 season has dragged on.
