What’s Happening?

NASCAR’s three National Series are breaking new ground this weekend as they take to the streets of Naval Base Coronado for Southern California’s first-ever NASCAR road race. So, whether you are going to be at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for the race weekend in San Diego, California?

  • The race at Naval Base Coronado is NASCAR’s second-ever street course weekend. The layout designed by NASCAR with help from iRacing sits at a massive 3.4 miles long with 16 turns, taking drivers around the base.
  • This Street Circuit in the sport’s history kicked off in 2023 when the NASCAR Cup and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races were held in downtown Chicago. This time, the race at Qualcomm Circuit will feature something that Chicago never had, a triple header outing with the Craftsman Truck Series.
  • While NASCAR is taking on San Diego for the first time, even if there is bad weather, teams are equipped with wet-weather tires and windshield wipers to keep racing.
