What’s Happening?

Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr joined the NASCAR community in reacting to a viral radio interview from his long-time Hendrick Motorsports teammate and fellow NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson.

NASCAR fans have long known that Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were friends off the track prior to their time as teammates and car owners in NASCAR’s National Series.

But, Sunday evening, Earnhardt got the chance to introduce NASCAR fans to Johnson’s alter-ego, “Jimmie Jam.”

The post from Earnhardt stemmed from a viral radio interview Johnson had with Radio Le Mans during the 2026 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans this past weekend.

Johnson, the owner of NASCAR Cup Series team Legacy Motor Club, joined the radio broadcast to discuss his outing during the 2023 running of the legendary endurance race at France’s Circuit de la Sarthe.

For the most part, the discussion did not veer off the rails; however, fans listening in quickly noticed that Johnson may have had a little too much fun watching the race.

The 50-year-old seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion is mostly known as one of the more straightforward interviewees, typically carrying a confident tone on the mic, something that has transitioned him into an occasional podcast and TV personality.

Still, this time, the internet continually reshared this clip featuring slurred responses and a very relaxed tone from Johnson.

Earnhardt joined in on the fun, first responding, “I told yall Jimmie was fun,” later adding on in a post of his own, saying that Johnson was in rare form, one that he is all too familiar with:

“I know this guy. His name is Jimmie Jam. You haven’t lived until you have raised hell with Jimmie Jam. What a Legend.”

Earnhardt wasn’t the only one who laughed off the video. One user responded to the original clip, saying, “He sounds like he has some blood in his alcohol system.”

Of course, the NASCAR fanbase ate up Earnhardt’s post as well, with many stating that they wished they had had the chance to hang out with the two during their rowdier days.
