What’s Happening?

Despite a potential late-race rally for Ross Chastain in his Niece Motorsports No. 45, in the end, it was same-old, same-old as Kyle Busch put on a clinic at Dover, a track he has had so much success at in years past, leading a whopping 147 laps on his way to victory. This marks his 69th career win in the series, his 13th win overall at Dover, and his second race of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

Post-Race Report

  • Stage 1 was dominated by the driver of the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, Kyle Busch. Busch led all but three laps in the opening stage and the only reason he didn’t lead those three laps was because he pitted late after Dystany Spurlock spun on Lap 40 while Brenden Queen and Cole Butcher stayed out. But on their worn tires, they were no match for KFB. He made easy work on them in a one-lap shootout to finish the stage and went on to win.
  • The second stage was again dominated by Kyle Busch. KFB became the first driver to lead 1,000 laps or more at a single racetrack in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He went on to win the stage but, little by little, Ross Chastain was starting to creep into the picture. Could he be a series threat for the win?
  • The following drivers earned stage points in today’s race:  Ty Majeski (17), Gio Ruggiero (12), Cole Butcher (8), Ross Chastain (7), Layne Riggs (6), Jake Garcia (4), Kaden Honeycutt (2) and Grant Enfinger (2).
  • There were a few incidents that brought out cautions in this race. First, Dystany Spurlock crashed in her debut on Lap 40. This was followed by Luke Baldwin who crashed out on Lap 118. On Lap 129, Mini Tyrell went for a spin after contact with teammate Clint Boyer. Boyer also had issues late with a loose wheel. He exited the race prematurely.
  • In his victory celebration, Kyle Busch alluded to his struggles in the NASCAR Cup Series and those have been well-documented. But in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, if KFB is in the field, it’s very likely that he is going to be in contention for the win, with a winning average of around every four races. Today at the Monster Mile, KFB scored his 69th career truck win, the 13th Dover win of his career, and his second win of 2026 with Spire, the first one coming earlier this spring at Atlanta.
