What’s Happening?

NASCAR is officially moving Watkins Glen International’s race weekend back to the fall and back into the Chase in 2027.

The official Watkins Glen account shared the news on X late Thursday evening. This announcement followed a tough start to this weekend’s events at the track.

Pictures and videos from campers entering the track late this week have shown cold, wet, and muddy conditions. Prior to announcing the 2027 schedule change, the track even announced changes to camping procedures for Thursday night.

The spring 2026 race is the first-ever spring race weekend at the track. Prior to this year, the earliest The Glen had hosted a race was in July during the 1964 and 1965 seasons.

This move also means that the race will be back in the Chase. The only other time the track has held this honor was during the Olympic-affected 2024 season.
