The image, from the back of the diecast’s packaging, shows that 2026 Wave 2 will be another small wave of diecast, with a field size similar to this year’s first two waves.
This total matches the new six-car lineup introduced with 2026 Wave 1A and Wave 1, down from the series typical lineup of nine cars from recent seasons.
The lineup of cars includes a healthy mix of 2025 and 2026 paint schemes, all of which are from the NASCAR Cup Series:
- Christopher Bell | DeWalt
- Ryan Blaney | BODYARMOR CHILL
- Kyle Busch | Cheddars
- Ryan Preece | Trimble
- Noah Gragson | FarmRich
- Erik Jones | Advent Health
The Wave’s Liquid Color Chase Piece is Kyle Busch’s Cheddar’s car.
Many fans reacting to the image online on sites like X are quickly pointing out their disappointment in this wave’s lineup, specifically, the lack of less popular drivers, Craftsman Truck Series drivers, and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series drivers.
Nonetheless, this wave is the third of 2026, matching the total number of waves from the 2025 line of NASCAR Authentics, which topped out at three with 27 individual diecasts.
NASCAR Authentics is Lionel’s line of retail-exclusive 1:64-scale diecast and can be found at stores like Walmart and Target.
