What’s Happening?

Every NASCAR season brings a new group of drivers making their first starts at the national level. Some arrive from other racing disciplines, others work their way up through short tracks, and a few emerge with little fanfare before getting their opportunity on a bigger stage.

The 2026 season is already adding several new names to that list. Across the Craftsman Truck Series, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (formerly Xfinity Series), and the Cup Series, multiple drivers, both experienced and inexperienced in the National Series, have made their debuts in NASCAR’s respective national series this season.

As always, this tracker includes only points-paying debuts (with one exception). With much of the season still ahead, more drivers are expected to join the list as 2026 continues.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (6 Debuts)

As NASCAR’s third-tier national series, the Craftsman Truck Series has long been a breeding ground for young talent. It continues in 2026, with a debut class that blends open-wheel experience, rising prospects, and a few familiar racing names.

NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (2 Debuts)

NASCAR Cup Series (1 Debut)

This season, the Cup Series featured an unplanned debut, with a last-minute substitute stepping in for Hendrick Motorsports.

Originally at Circuit of the Americas in a non-driving role, Snider got a sudden call to step in for Alex Bowman at Hendrick Motorsports after the latter fell ill during the race. That unexpected opportunity marked the 31-year-old’s first Cup Series start, where he carried the No. 48 to the finish line in 37th.

While his Cup debut came under unusual circumstances, it still counts all the same.
