What to Watch for in the Truck Race at Darlington

What’s Happening?

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is back in action under the lights at the historic Darlington Raceway. Though throwback weekend is no longer “official”, the tradition at the Lady in Black continues. Up first to wet our palates: the Buckle Up South Carolina 200. Here’s what you need to keep an eye out for in tonight’s race.

Pre-Race Fast Notes

• Picking up where that stellar No. 11 truck left off last year is none other than Kaden Honeycutt. He will roll off from the best seat in the house–the pole position. After a couple of wildcard tracks to start the year, he’s looking to cement himself as a serious championship threat. The first step in doing that begins tonight.
• There are a number of NASCAR Cup drivers in the field tonight. One of those is the very controversial but always entertaining Carson Hocevar. Hocevar is a five-time winner in the series and, driving the Spire No. 77, could be a major contender for the win. Also in the field tonight are Corey Heim (Tricon No. 5), Christopher Bell (No. 62), Ross Chastain (No. 45), and A. J. Allmendinger (No. 10). They’re starting in the 5th, 6th, 9th, and 22nd positions, respectively.
• Returning to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is young phenom and road course ace, Connor Mosack. He’s never tackled anything like The Track Too Tough To Tame before. He just needs to keep his nose clean, and he should do just fine. He’s rolling off 10th in the Spire No. 7.
• This is the first race of the Triple Truck Challenge. One lucky driver has a chance to win $50,000. The other two races in the challenge are Rockingham and Bristol.
• Coverage for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Buckle Up South Carolina 200 begins at 7:30 PM EST on FS1.
