What’s Happening?

On Wednesday, Lionel Racing checked what many fans considered to be the final box of Ram Truck’s return to NASCAR, by releasing the first batch of Ram Diecast Trucks for pre-order.

This batch of diecasts includes all five of Ram’s entries into the season-opening race at Daytona, including all four full-time drivers and Tony Stewart, who will drive the team’s No. 25, getting his first NASCAR diecast in some time.

This pre-order also marks a major milestone for Ram and Lionel, as the first Ram NASCAR diecast Trucks produced in well over a decade.

As of press time, all five drivers’ trucks are available for pre-order through Lionel in both 1:24 and 1:64 scale.

With Lionel having to make a new mold for the Ram body, these diecast will take some time to ship out, with Lionel’s website citing November 30 as their estimated ship date.

During the early days of the Truck Series, there were many NASCAR Truck diecasts produced, including many from the Ram team, which was an original Truck Series manufacturer under the Dodge umbrella.

But by the time they left the sport in the early 2010s, new Truck Series diecasts were hard to find, with the series not having 1:64 scale diecasts until the latter half of the decade.

Ram Trucks announced its return to NASCAR last summer, with a somewhat rushed buildup to the new year, highlighted by many major headlines.

Among these were a new partnership with Kaulig Racing that would see the team field five full-time trucks, a planned open truck, which would rotate drivers throughout the year, and finally a reality TV show, which decided the driver of the No. 14, Mini Tyrrell.
