What’s Happening?

NASCAR staple Richard Childress Racing is making key changes to its leadership ahead of the 2026 season, bringing in a new COO and confirming the return of its part-time No. 33 entry for the new year.

With this restructuring, Executive Vice President Mike Dillon, the father of NASCAR Cup Series drivers Austin and Ty Dillon and son-in-law of Richard Childress, takes over as chief operating officer.

Directly under him will be Technical Director, John Klausmeier, whom RCR claims will oversee “all technical engineering activities for the high-performance motorsports team and focusing his energies on vehicle systems engineering, design and metrology.”

Veteran Crew Chief Andy Street takes over as Performance Director while maintaining a Crew Chief spot in the Cup Series with the part-time No. 33 car.

This entry made eight starts with Jesse Love and Austin Hill behind the wheel in 2025. Street was the Crew Chief for the team in seven of those races, missing the eighth race after taking over as Kyle Busch’s Crew Chief to round out the season.

Another, already announced change, will be former JR Motorsports Crew Chief Jim Pohlman, who takes over for Kyle Busch’s former Crew Chief, Randall Burnett, for the No. 8 team.

Finally, Richard Boswell will return to Austin Dillon’s No. 3 for the Crew Chief’s second season at RCR, having made the Playoffs with Dillon in 2025.
