- The 54-year-old announced his 2026 plans on the latest episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, though he will not be racing with his team, Tony Stewart Racing. Instead, due to a shakeup at TSR, Stewart will take his talents to Elite Motorsports following a period of uncertainty about his plans for the coming season.
- The change that pushed him out of TSR was the return of his wife, NHRA veteran Leah Pruett, who is returning to action for the first time since 2023. With her departure to start their family, Stewart took over driving duties for Pruett and has proved his talent in that role since.
- Last season, Stewart got his legs under him, winning Rookie of the Year, and this season, Stewart has turned on the jets, winning the NHRA Top Fuel division Regular Season Championship. Despite this, Stewart suffered a viral crash this past weekend during Finals Round Two of the Reading Nationals, though he maintains second in points.
- While Stewart has turned his attention to drag racing and sold his NASCAR team last season, he still maintains a presence in sprint car racing. On Wednesday, his team, Tony Stewart Racing, finished a reshuffling of their own, announcing a shift to the High Limit Series and signing the current series points leader, Rico Abreu, for the 2026 season.
