Chaos at Watkins Glen — that’s the only way to describe it. Connor Zilisch picked up another win, continuing his ridiculous rookie streak, but the celebration took a scary turn when he fell hard in Victory Lane and had to be stretchered away. Meanwhile, Austin Hill returned from suspension… and drove exactly like Austin Hill, for better and worse. Between the crashes, controversy, and questionable moves, the Xfinity race was more like a demolition derby on a road course.
- Zillich notches his 6th win of the season, but a nasty post-race fall overshadows the celebration
- Late-race contact between Zilisch and Shane van Gisbergen sparks debate over patience versus overdrive
- Austin Hill’s first race back features classic bump-and-run aggression — and a high-speed hook on Michael McDowell
- NASCAR’s enforcement choices questioned after another avoidable, dangerous wreck goes unpenalized
Watkins Glen gave us everything — high-level talent, heated rivalries, and decisions that’ll be argued over all week. Zilisch continues to look like the future of the sport, but his run-ins with SVG show that even the best rookies have lessons to learn. As for Hill, his fearless, bulldozer approach makes him a must-watch wildcard every time he’s on track, though it’s fair to wonder how long NASCAR will tolerate this version of him without stepping in harder.
