What’s Happening?

Stewart Friesen, a longtime veteran of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is receiving medical attention after suffering a violent airborne crash at Autodrome Drummond in Drummond, Quebec, Canada.

  • During a Super DIRTcar Series race at the 0.375-mile clay oval, the 42-year-old driver hit a tire barrier entering turns three and four sending his dirt modified airborne. His car then rolled down the outside retaining wall and back onto the track, being hit by several other cars.
  • Following the fiery crash, the Super DIRTcar Series updated Friesen’s status on X, saying he was “alert and communicating with officials and EMT.” Shortly after the incident, Friesen’s official X account posted that he was “alert and talking” and headed to a medical facility.
  • According to the initial post from the Super DIRTcar Series, the other drivers involved in the incident were “okay.” Prior to the accident, Friesen had qualified sixth and appeared to be running towards the front of the field.
  • NASCAR fans will know the dirt racer for his full-time efforts racing the No. 52 truck for Halmar Friesen Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Through his ten seasons racing in the series, Friesen has four career wins and four top-ten finishes; he currently sits 13th in points and is locked into the 2025 playoffs with a win at Michigan International Speedway.
  • This is a developing article and will be updated as further updates are released.
