What started as a few posts on X from former Atlanta Braves Third Baseman Chipper Jones has continued to be a hot topic of conversation for the NASCAR world this week. Now, reigning NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano has once again fired back at the Baseball Hall of Famer’s comments.

During media availability following the unveiling of the 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race pace car at North Wilkesboro Speedway, Logano told reporters that he was surprised a fellow athlete would react the way Jones did following Sunday’s race.
“I’m surprised that a professional athlete would act in that manner,” Logano said. “Because he’s been through with it, right?” Logano further reiterated the shocking nature of Jones’ posts and asked why another athlete would want to “mouth off on social media.”
“I would have assumed, him being the athlete that he is and was, that he would understand that, and not mouth off on social media, like somebody who has never played the sport before, or a sport. It’s surprising to me. All I think is he’s just trying to be relevant still or something like that.” — Joey Logano
Jones went after Logano following Sunday’s race after the veteran driver berated his teammate Austin Cindric via radio, stating to his No. 22 team, “Way to go Austin, way to go, you dumb fuck! Way to fucking go. What a stupid shit. You just gave it to him [Wallace]. Gave a Toyota a stage win. Nice job.”
Logano addressed his teammate-targeted verbal attack Tuesday morning on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, saying that his competitive nature and the heat of the moment caused his outburst. The three-time Cup Series Champion went as far as to say, “Should I have hit the button and probably spouted off so much? Probably not.”
Logano also commented on the posts on this morning’s episode of Beyond the Wheel on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Jones went on a social media tirade Sunday afternoon after Logano’s now-viral and vulgar radio outburst against Team Penske’s teammate and eventual race winner Austin Cindric.
In his initial post, Jones said, “Good teammates are hard to come by, Boss! Remember that one of urs MFed u on national TV, when in all actuality, u did everything possible to keep from wrecking him.” This long post is directed at both Penske drivers, with Jones congratulating Cindric and condemning Logano’s actions.
The former eight-time all-star slugger and avid race fan didn’t stop there, continuing to defend himself, calling out Logano for not congratulating his teammate in a post-race interview with FOX Sports, and revealing in Logano’s post-race disqualification, posting, “My day just keeps getting better!”
