What’s Happening?

NASCAR and the Free Live TV Streaming platform Tubi launched the NASCAR Channel on Jan. 29. Since then, fans have had some time to become acquainted with the platform. But for those who haven’t, here’s what you can expect one week in.

  • The NASCAR Channel is a FAST or Free Ad-Supported TV platform.
  • Essentially, Tubi, a free streaming service owned by NASCAR partner FOX, has uploaded a back catalog of NASCAR content and Documentaries to Tubi.
  • The key part of this FAST Channel is the Live TV function. Several leagues, such as the MLB, NBA, and NFL, have FAST Channels on several services similar to Tubi, such as Paramount’s Pluto TV.

Library Options?

The Results via searching for NASCAR on Tubi

The library features a mix of Racing content and documentary-style content.

The racing content, titled NASCAR Race Classics, features some races found on the NASCAR Classics website and YouTube Channel. If you are looking for a broad selection of Classic Races, NASCAR Classics will remain your best bet.

The available non-racing library options are mostly NASCAR on FOX-related content. These options include NASCAR on Fox Documentaries such as “I am Kevin Harvick” and special episodes or mini-docs from the discontinued TV show NASCAR RaceHub.

The organization of the NASCAR on FOX documentaries is slightly confusing as most are filed under NASCAR on FOX Films. This is except for “I am Kevin Harvick” and the mini-docs, referred to as Beyond the Wheel. Beyond the Wheel has its category that has just one episode featuring the 2024 edition of Beyond the Wheel.

There are also a few outside documentaries, such as “Blink of an Eye,” “NASCAR: Lead Legacy,” and “Classic Stock Car Racing.” At least two of these are available for free on other platforms.

What Do They Have on the Live Channel?

The “Live” sports channels on Tubi are rarely actually live; rather, they are a live stream of catalog content from different sports. The NASCAR library of documentaries and races is a perfect fit for this. Here’s what you can expect.

The Live Channel truly is 24/7 NASCAR content. During the day, you can see historic races, shown in their original aspect ratio, and podcast episodes, such as Corey Lajoie’s Stacking Pennys’ and Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

The content used for the back catalog of historic races consists mostly of content from the NASCAR Classics website and YouTube Channel. While it has a catalog of historical content, it will also replay recent races after they air live.

The live channel also had two marquee events for its debut week. The first was the Cook Out Classic, a modified race at Bowman Gray Stadium prior to the Clash at Bowman Gray. The second was the live broadcast of the NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Feb. 7.

Both were high-quality products; the Cook Out Classic was a simulcast with FloRacing. At the time, there are no known plans for live events or races on the platform.

What Was the First Week Like?

Fans seemed satisfied with the channel’s launch; most tuned in to check it out or catch the Cook Out Classic. Posts on X suggest that it met expectations—however high those were—and supplies a satisfying backlog of content.

Last week, fans saw a solid selection of content curated towards the Clash at Bowman Gray, including replays of what is now the ARCA Menards Series East races at Bowman Gray.

While you can’t expect to see a full lineup of new content and live shows, the NASCAR Channel serves its purpose of utilizing NASCAR’s actively growing catalog of historical content. It will be interesting to see if this decent start to the NASCAR Channel will stick around in the channel’s long-term future.
