What’s Happening?

One team that has had a rather quiet off-season is ThorSport Racing. After a championship season, most would think there is little room for improvement at Ford’s top Truck Series team. However, a little-noticed change suggests they are making changes ahead of 2025.

Who’s in ThorSport’s 2025 Lineup?

Since Ty Majeski walked off the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season with a championship, ThorSport has yet to confirm its lineup for 2025. Looking back to last season, the team’s lineup consisted of four full-time drivers and one part-time driver.

These full-time drivers were Jake Garcia in the No. 13, Matt Crafton in the No. 88, Ben Rhodes in the No. 98, and Ty Majeski in the No. 99. For the most part, Garcia and Crafton struggled to match the team’s past seasons of success, and as expected, Rhodes and Majeski led the way.

Aside from their occasional struggles, most expect all four drivers to return to full-time action in 2025. However, one question fans are asking is in regards to the team’s part-time driver for 2023 and 2024, Conner Jones.

What’s Going on With Jones?

Last year, Jones made NASCAR headlines for all the wrong reasons. Following a tough back-and-forth during the Truck Series race at Homestead, Jones intentionally wrecked Niece Motorsports’ Matt Mills. Fans reacted accordingly to this incident. Despite Jones’ public apology, fans still called for his release or a suspension from NASCAR.

Following this incident, Mills spent two nights at Jackson South Medical Center with doctors monitoring his oxygen levels due to heavy smoke inhalation. NASCAR subsequently suspended Jones for one race for causing the fiery crash.

Beyond the suspension, Jones had already had a frustrating second part-time season at ThorSport. In nine starts in 2023, Jones had an average finish of 24.7, though he improved this to 22.5 in 13 starts in 2024; Jones has yet to have a top-five or top-ten finish.

While most expected him to return for 2025, some fans are theorizing he may be out at ThorSport.

What’s the Rumor?

The rumor is more of a theory from fans. However, this theory has a solid base supporting it.

Like many other teams, ThorSport Racing’s website has a driver roster page. However, this list of drivers has not been updated for 2025. All four full-time drivers still have their 2024 stats listed above their 2024 picture, except for one driver.

While ThorSport has not updated the other drivers, they have removed Jones from their list of drivers. While his “Rookie Year” banner and points position remain, ThorSport replaced his driver picture and name simply with “TBD.” When you click on the No. 66, you are redirected to a page claiming “No Results Found.”

This of course does not mean that Jones is out at ThorSport, he could be negotiating a new contract or testing his options; it is interesting that the team removed him from the driver roster while leaving the other drivers untouched.

Despite these clues, it should be noted there is no other evidence suggesting that Jones is a free agent. ThorSport has mentioned Jones on their Facebook as recently as Dec. 31, and Jones still has “Driver for ThorSport Racing” in his X bio.

While fans will continue to theorize on this, with Daytona less than a month away, ThorSport should release their lineup soon. Whether that will include Jones is still a mystery.
