Kenny Wallace was a bit ticked off when he saw a recent NASCAR Legends teaser video ahead of Richmond

What’s Happening?

There is nothing boring about Kenny Wallace, and often there isn’t a whole lot that is serious – that’s part of his “Herman” personality, as the well-known nickname goes.

Friday morning, being serious for once, he made what seemed like a valid point while sipping a cup of coffee and pivoting 90 degrees to his selfie camera like a professor about to address a classroom full of students.

You need to know:

  • On Friday, Kenny Wallace ranted that a NASCAR-produced video released in the past 48 hours (see below) irritated him and had missed the boat because its quick-clip zip through NASCAR’s legends teaser was completely devoid of his big brother. That big brother, of course, is Rusty Wallace (55 career wins, Hall of Fame). Kenny questioned the lack of historical awareness of a 30-second promo video NASCAR put on several platforms Thursday (he wasn’t clear which one specifically). He wondered why his brother wasn’t shown for even a nanosecond, and wondered if the social media team is young and doesn’t know its racing history.
  • The thing is, Junior Johnson, Richard Petty, and trailblazers like NASCAR’s first African American winner Wendell Scott, and Janet Guthrie (prominent female driver) were included – showing that the young social media staff Kenny refers to did include many generations. Was it a planned snub (of course not), but was it a glaring mistake (your call, but it is a bit of a head-scratcher)?
  • What do you think? Who is correct in this playful debate? Is Herman right? Is he wrong and the social media team did a sufficient job with the quick clip? That’s up to you, but there’s no convincing Kenny that his brother wasn’t forgotten. But we think everybody will always love the guy. He’s one of the good guys in the sport.

Kenny’s rant:

The presumed NASCAR Legends promotional video Kenny speaks of.

In The Stands

Maxie Bordeaux has an idea of who he’d have on the NASCAR Mount Rushmore – and Rusty’s on it. So obviously he’s a glaring omission, right?

Cosmo certainly agrees that Rusty should be in any NASCAR legend video

Dr. Mark Howell reacted to how Kenny portrayed the social media team.

Lobo Cola decided to nitpick but actually made a good point (for the record, Kenny is Rusty’s little brother by roughly seven years).

Dennis Riggs apparently came in late to the party or didn’t get Herm’s point
