A Weird NASCAR Cup Series Race At Gateway

This weekend at Gateway had so many twists and turns it’s almost like a team of writers sit down in Charlotte and think of the best script possible, but instead of putting on our tinfoil hats. Let’s enjoy it while Brake Hard takes us through everything that happened this weekend. 

• The only thing more heartbreaking than having engine problems with 10 laps ago while chasing the leader is unexpectedly running out of fuel on the last lap and your teammate passes you for the win. We’ve all seen our fair share of heartbreaking Ryan Blaney moments, but does this one top the list?
• One of Gateway’s staples is the pyrotechnics on the back stretch during the pre-race. The loud fireballs on the backstretch are something that the commentators and the drivers talk about almost constantly before they happen, but unfortunately, the fans get to see none of it because Fox decides not to show it. How excited are you for the start of the NBC broadcast?
• Austin Cindric has found Victory Lane for the first time in a long time. Before this weekend, If you look at a stat sheet, you could assume he is on the hot seat. Do you think Austin Cindric’s Job in Penske is safe after this win?
