What’s Happening?

The No. 88 JR Motorsports Xfinity Series car is becoming one of the most interesting in the series. From late model drivers getting an opportunity in the Big Leagues to the occasional appearance of Dale Earnhardt Jr. For those who have a hard time keeping up with the No. 88 car’s schedule, here is a tracker of the entire schedule for the car in 2024.

• The No. 88 car does not compete full-time in the series. In 2023, the car only made 5 appearances with Miguel Paludo making 3 road course starts, and Earnhardt Jr. made starts at Bristol and Homestead-Miami.
• This year’s focus appears to be on late-model stars. JRM also has a late model program, with prominent alum including Josh Berry, William Byron, and Sam Mayer.
• Fans are always excited about who the next JRM No. 88 driver will be. JR Motorsports is a big name, and short track fans love seeing their superstars get opportunities.

The Drivers

These are all of the drivers confirmed or rumored for 2024. Those who love local short-track racing should be familiar with many of these names.

Bubba Pollard

Bubba Pollard will be sponsored by Rheem for a one-off race at Richmond Raceway on March 30th. Pollard is a bonafide late model legend with over 100 victories including prestigious races like the Slinger Nationals, Rattler 250, and the All-American 400. Richmond Raceway appears to be right within his wheelhouse.

Carson Kvapil

Carson Kvapil will make a one-off start at Martinsville Speedway in April. Kvapil has won 3 consecutive CARS Tour Championships, winning the Super Late Model Championship in 2021 and the Late Model Stock Championship in 2022 and 2023. He is the son of 2003 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion, Travis Kvapil.

Connor Zilisch

Connor Zilisch is perhaps the most intriguing prospect in NASCAR. He’s currently in a development contract with Trackhouse in a variety of racing series from IMSA to NASCAR to late models. He also has a Rolex watch from a class victory in the 2024 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

Connor Mosack

Connor Mosack will make 2 starts for JRM in the Xfinity Series this season. He rejoins the team he raced for in the CARS Tour back in 2020. Mosack recorded 2 Xfinity Series top-10s in 2023, both on road courses.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has made at least one Xfinity Series start per season since he retired from full-time competition in 2017. That start will come at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 20th with Hellmann’s sponsorship. This start comes alongside the occasional late model start for Dale Jr. at JRM.
