It’s no secret that Ryan Truex wants to run full-time in the Xfinity Series next year. He said as much after he won his race at Dover, and Joe Gibbs Racing as two seats open for 2024 where Truex currently runs part-time. We have discussed putting sponsorship together as a reason why Truex does not have a full-time ride, but what does that really mean?

How Much Does it Cost to Drive in the Xfinity Series?

It’s no secret that it takes more than raw talent to race in NASCAR. It takes money and a lot of it at that. That is why sponsors are so important to a race team and a race car driver, as Hailie Deegan discussed how much it costs to race in the lower series on the “Rubbin’ is Racing” podcast, and we discussed it below.

She said a top-level Xfinity Series ride costs about $4-5 million per year. This is compared to about $2 million for a Truck Series ride. That is why sponsorship is so important, so, how much sponsorship does Ryan Truex have?

Truex’s Sponsorship

Ryan Truex has gotten his sponsorship this year from Toyota companies. Long story short, Toyota has largely funded Truex this season, and for two of the six races he ran in 2022. Now, it is not out of the question for a manufacturer to help sponsor a driver during a season, but, a full season usually does not happen.

For example, Joe Gibbs Racing also has companies that sponsor the organization such as Yahoo and Interstate Batteries, which Interstate Batteries have been with them for years. However, Sammy Smith still brought funding from Pilot Flying J, and John Hunter Nemechek has brought funding from a variety of different companies.

Truex may get a maximum of six races from Toyota, but, it is possible they may pull some of that funding back as well. Therefore, he may need to start from scratch. Now that he is a winner, it becomes easier to sell sponsors.

Will Ryn Truex find the sponsorship he needs to run full-time in 2024? Will Joe Gibbs Racing be that place to go, or will it be somewhere else?
