- Just over a year ago, 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports sued NASCAR on antitrust grounds following the fallout of the 2025 NASCAR Charter Agreement negotiations, in which neither team signed the agreement. While there have been many storylines in this lawsuit, the main one is the two teams’ charters, or, now, the lack thereof.
- As the teams failed to sign the NASCAR Charter Agreement, the two, following a series of injunctions, are now without their charters that supply them with automatic entry and revenue sharing. Although they could retain these by winning the lawsuit or settling, they have claimed in the past that if they do not regain their charters, they will likely have to cease operations.
- Regarding the idea that the teams could shut down, Jenna Fryer of AP Sports reports in a new article that 23XI has addressed this ‘what if’ scenario with its employees. Fryer claimed, “23XI has already told its employees they will be taken care of through the 2026 season.”
- What this entails exactly is unclear; though the need to do so is another harsh reality of what is at stake if this lawsuit does go to trial. Of course, there is still the chance (though it remains unlikely) that the parties will settle before then, something NASCAR team owners have provided hefty support for in recent days.
- We have extensively covered all aspects of this lawsuit via the timeline linked below.
