What’s Happening?
23XI Racing continues to keep NASCAR fans on their toes. On Thursday, the team posted a video about the No. 50 car, saying this is the “Final ride” for the entry, complete with a driver walking holding a golden ticket. We see a sliver of grey hair above the ticket, making some theorize who this driver might be.
- 23XI Racing’s No. 50 car is a part-time unchartered entry for the team. It has made two entries this season: Toyota sports car legend Kamui Kobayashi racing at COTA in March and top Toyota NASCAR prospect Corey Heim competing at Nashville in June.
- It seems neither of those drivers will return to the ride for whatever race this will be. DannyBTalks theorized that Juan Pablo Montoya might be the driver to take this ride, and that would absolutely match the silhouette and hair color featured in the above video. He could easily compete on either of the remaining road course races at Watkins Glen and the Charlotte Roval.
- However, this officially remains just a theory for now. If Montoya were to return, it would be to the series where he spent seven seasons competing full-time from 2007 through 2013. He won two races, and his best points came in 2009 when he finished ninth.
