This week, the Cup Series moves on to Daytona for the Playoff Cut-Off Race. NASCAR has hosted this race at three different tracks through the years including Richmond, Indianapolis, and now Daytona. While Daytona is an understandable pick for this race for many reasons, but, at some point, NASCAR will likely want to make a change. Daytona being in this date means the iconic 4th of July race is now gone.

To the tune of sadness from many in the NASCAR industry, GMS Racing is closing their Craftsman Truck Series operation at the end of the season. While a surprise to some, there are some reasons to speculate as to why GMS would close their doors after this season, and we are here to explain why.
It seems that Aric Almirola is nearing a decision, Chris Knight of Catchfence and John Roberts of Sirius XM NASCAR Radio told PRN that signs are pointing towards Almirola and his sponsor Smithfield leaving Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the season. Within all of this chatter, Lee Spencer went on PRN earlier on Tuesday and said that two charters may be available from Stewart-Haas Racing. She did mention that Stewart-Haas Racing’s current contract with Ford expires in 2024, so, it may not be until next year year or two before the charters are sold.

While the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to Daytona this weekend, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returns to the Milwaukee Mile for the first time since 2009. It is one of the most historic race tracks in the country, with it being opened in 1903 before being paved in 1954.
