Last week, IndyCar driver Will Power was a guest on Corey LaJoie’s Stacking Pennies podcast. They discussed a variety of things in the motorsport world but things got very interesting when Power discussed his “desire” to run a NASCAR race in the future. In the interview, he was adamant that he was interested in such an undertaking. He even said that he would like to run an oval, though acknowledging that it would be a difficult transition for him. Later in the interview, he also stated that he was offered a ride to run the Xfinity race in Portland later this season. He did not name the team and signs point to him declining the offer.

  • Will Power is a two-time IndyCar champion. He has raced in the series since 2005. In 2009, he joined Team Penske, winning the championship with them in 2014 and 2022.
  • As we all know, Roger Penske owns a number of teams in different divisions of racing. Most prominently, he fields cars in the NASCAR Cup and IndyCar Series.
  • In the past, Penske has fielded Xfinity Series cars. Other IndyCar drivers such as Juan Pablo Montoya and Sam Hornish Jr. have run his stockcars in the past. So it’s not out of the question that the team could return for a one-off with Power behind the wheel.
