What’s Happening?

NASCAR will remain in the gulf coast this weekend as they head to the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, for a triple-header weekend. After battling the elements in Daytona Beach, will this weekend be any easier for the stars of NASCAR?

  • AMS is a longtime staple of all three NASCAR National Series. Despite this, it has looked very different over the years after major renovations in 1997 and 2001.
  • That second renovation turned AMS into a superspeedway-style drafting track. This design meant that cars in all three series would race in tight packs at high speeds.
  • AMS, as a drafting track and a 1.5-mile speedway, will not have wet-weather tires in play if it rains. If the race is pushed late into the night, however, the track does have light, though they will more than likely make an appearance with or without inclement weather.
