What’s Happening?
All three NASCAR National Series are headed to Pocono Raceway this weekend for an action-packed triple-header weekend. Whether you are at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for this weekend in Long Pond, Pennsylvania?
- The three-turn, 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway has long served as one of NASCAR’s staples in the northeast. As the only NASCAR track in Pennsylvania, Pocono has hosted a NASCAR Cup Series race every season since 1974.
- The Truck and Xfinity Series have raced at the track since 2010 and 2016, respectively, and have never hosted two race weekends. However, the Cup Series did so from 1982 to 2021, including a period in 2020 and 2021 when they hosted races on back-to-back days.
- In the past, Pocono has had its fair share of weather-affected races, including rain, thunder, and even a race ended by fog.

2016 – Into the Fog
The fall 2016 race at Pocono Raceway had one of the most interesting finishes in NASCAR history. After completing only 138 of the race’s scheduled 160 laps, NASCAR was forced to call the race due to fog.
Despite Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr, Greg Biffle, and Chris Buescher all leading laps into double digits, it was the underdog Chris Buescher who would walk away with the win. At the time, this was just the second-ever win for Front Row Motorsports and its now iconic flagship No. 34.
