NASCAR held the season-opening Busch Light Clash at the LA Coliseum one day earlier than originally scheduled, and there was a LOT to unpack. Eric Estepp breaks down the unusual scheduling and the race itself in the most recent Out of the Groove.
- NASCAR decided to move the Clash up by one day, from Sunday to Saturday. Eric believes that this was “Likely NASCAR’s only decision” given the difficult situation.
- This race was a battle between youth and experience. Ty Gibbs went up against drivers like Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin. Gibbs and Logano were not happy with each other afterward.
- Eric puts the race on the “Groovy Gauge”. As far as the race itself went, Eric was a fan.
- Eric breaks down the Fox broadcast. He liked the commentary, but, he was not a fan of the camera directing.
The Clash certainly left some drivers with bent sheet metal and hurt feelings, and even the scheduling was highly controversial.
