What’s Happening?

We had a lot of great patriotic paint schemes last week for the Chicago Street Course. Now, we head out west to yet another road course. Time to head up to the wine country of Sonoma Raceway! We got a lot of great paint schemes this weekend as well, and we’re going to comb through the entry lists and spotlight some of the best ones. First up: Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race. So, here are some of the best paint schemes as we gear up for this afternoon’s Pit Boss/FoodMaxx 250.

Sheldon Creed No. 00 Pit Boss Ford

First up, let’s take a look at the race sponsor’s car. Pit Boss is sponsoring Sheldon Creed’s No. 00 Ford Mustang this weekend, and just look at this livery! In the heart of summer, there isn’t anything better than grilling out or throwing an old-fashioned barbecue. Look at the side of this car! We got charcoal pieces engulfed in flames and what looks like some juicy, tender steak on the back end. It makes me want to crack a beer and join the party!

Jesse Love No. 2 Wheelen Chevrolet

This weekend, Jesse Love’s Wheelen Chevrolet is going to look a little different. And though I don’t have a problem with his regular white and red scheme, this one is a nice change of pace. This weekend, Wheelen Engineering decided to run a special paint scheme highlighting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. It is a tribute to 345 fallen officers, a very kind gesture by the sponsor, and one that everyone can get behind. The car also looks really cool. The police blue really complements the black matte background of the car. This is definitely one of my favorites of the week.

Justin Allgaier No. 7 Brandt Chevrolet

I also think it’s cool what Brandt and the number 7 team are doing with their paint schemes this year. Every week, it’s something a little different, usually something that has to do with the track or the local community. This weekend, since we’re going to wine country, Justin Allgaier’s number 7 Chevy will be covered in red grapes. It’s a fun idea that kind of reminds me of when all of Ross Chastain’s cars used to have watermelons on them. It’s a nice detail that brings all of this together.

Nick Sanchez No. 48 Big Machine 20th Anniversary Chevrolet

Two weeks removed from their big, triumphal win at Atlanta, Nick Sanchez and his Big Machine Racing team are sporting a 20th-year anniversary livery. Big Machine Records launched in 2005 and are largely responsible with launching the career of pop sensation Taylor Swift. I like this scheme mostly because I dig the colors. Orange and black have always been one of my favorite color scheme combinations.

Connor Zilisch No. 88 Roto Rooter Chevrolet

Like the Big Machine car, I chose this one just because I dug the colors. I love the red, white, and blue on the car, the blue number over the red door, and the bottom blue trim in the back. It’s a car that looks like it will really pop racing beneath the northern California sun. Last week in Chicago, Zilisch fell short in beating his teammate, Shane van Gisbergen. SVG is in the race again this weekend. Can he perhaps get it done this time? If he does, he’ll definitely look stylish in this ride while doing it.
