What’s Happening?
Despite the game not being publicly released, a content creator discovered a potentially race-altering glitch during a Daytona gameplay upload. This issue could lead to humorous situations like infinite restarts on the final lap.
- Early access for NASCAR 25’s Gold Edition opens at midnight tonight, but some content creators have been given the chance to play the game and upload their footage ahead of time. Among these is well-known NASCAR gamer RealRadman, who uploaded a 50-lap race at Daytona Thursday afternoon.
- While this video provided fans with a deeper look at the gameplay on superspeedways in the NASCAR Next Gen car, it also highlighted a weird officiating issue that neither RealRadman nor his viewers were expecting.
- During the final lap of the race, RealRadman was leading the pack when Kyle Larson wrecked and drew a caution. Of course, this caution must have been a glitch, because on the final lap of NASCAR races, per the rulebook, the next flag, whether checkered or yellow, ends the race. To the surprise of everyone including RealRadman, the field was regrouped for an overtime restart, while he had just one lap’s worth of fuel in his tank.
- While he went on to win the race, fans online quickly pointed out this error in the game’s officiating. If this process of a caution leading to a restart, rather than the checkered on the final lap, continued past what was shown in the video, the glitch theoretically allows for infinite restarts.
- This may not be a glitch, as it could be a settings issue, or even an oversight on the part of the game’s developers. Nonetheless, this is the only occurrence of this glitch so far from the early content uploaded by creators. Further testing is required to see just how many restarts can be triggered on the final lap.
