What’s Happening?
NASCAR driver Natalie Decker is getting back into racing, but not behind the wheel. Decker announced Thursday afternoon that she and her husband, Derek Lemke, were re-opening their family-owned Late Model team for two races in October.
- Natalie Decker made her name in the late 2010s. She has entered 44 combined races in the NASCAR Truck and Xfinity Series. Despite several entries across the past six seasons, Decker has one career top-five in the Truck Series.
- Decker made two starts this season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Mario Gosselin’s DGM Racing. In her first start at Daytona, Decker improved on her 30th starting spot by finishing in 19th on the lead lap for her best career finish. However, Decker has not entered a race since May, and it is unlikely she will this year, as she announced her pregnancy on Aug. 14.
- Decker’s husband, Derek Lemke, will start the two scheduled races at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway and Dells Raceway. Lemke is a longtime racer himself and made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series last season.
- The No. 31 Late Model will race at October LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway on Oct. 3 through 6 and at Dells Raceway on Oct. 19.
