What’s Happening?

It’s a double-header weekend for NASCAR as the Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Cup Series head to World Wide Technology Raceway for the Xfinity Series regular season finale. Whether you are at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for this weekend in Madison, Illinois?

  • World Wide Technology Raceway, often called Gateway, is a flatbanked 1.25-mile oval similar to tracks like New Hampshire Motor Speedway. WWT is a true one of a kind track that consistently draws one of the better crowds throughout the NASCAR season.
  • This weekend’s race is the fourth-ever NASCAR Cup Series race at WWT Raceway and the first in the fall, as the track was moved into the playoffs this past offseason. This is not the first NASCAR Xfinity Series fall race at WWT, as the track’s most recent Xfinity Series race was in October 2010.
  • The track has a very short weather history.
