What’s Happening?

Adam Stern reported a Variety piece by Brian Steinberg that says NASCAR will produce a documentary about the Le Mans Garage 56 entry. According to Steinberg, the documentary will follow the CEO of NASCAR, Jim France’s, efforts, “to showcase a next-generation race car to an international audience in partnership with Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet, and Goodyear”.

  • NASCAR’s Garage 56 entry has impressed in its’ time at Le Mans this week. From outpacing the GT cars to winning the Pit Crew Challenge, this entry has turned some heads.
  • This also comes amidst reports that Amazon is the favorite to land a potential NASCAR streaming deal after this TV rights deal expires at the end of 2024. While this documentary is by no means a commitment to broadcasting races, it is the first evidence of NASCAR and Amazon Prime partnering on something.
  • Fans on social media are excited about the move. Some were quick to make the connection between Amazon Prime and NASCAR, predicting Amazon would be a part of the next TV deal, even though there has been no TV rights deal struck between the two.
