- Staropoli will race for Sam Hunt Racing in the No. 24 in multiple races this season, beginning on Mar. 29 at Martinsville. The No. 24 is SHR’s part-time car, now shared by Staropoli, Corey Heim, Ryan Truex, and Jefferey Earnhardt.
- Staropoli made his loan NASCAR National Series start in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2016 at Homestead Miami-Speedway. This would be his last NASCAR start until this year, when he returned to the ARCA Menards Series with Venturini Motorsports, finishing eighth at Phoenix.
- According to his website, Staropoli, a Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Retina Consultants of Texas, has a long history in racing dating back to 2003. Fans on the NASCAR Grassroots level may remember Staropoli from his starts in the K&N Pro Series in the early 2010s.
- From 2013 to 2015, Staropoli made nine starts in both the K&N Pro Series East and West. These starts were mostly successful, with Staropoli scoring five top-tens and two top-fives across both series. He even walked away with a Pro Series West win at Irwindale Speedway in 2014.
